Today at Cheyenne Frontier Days, the first round of the semifinals showcased exceptional performances despite a bit of rain. True rodeo fans packed the stands, undeterred by the weather, demonstrating their dedication to “The Daddy of ‘Em All.”
Bareback Riding
In the first semifinal, Jacob Lees took the top spot with an impressive 88.5 points on Fettig Pro Rodeo’s Hot Money, earning $5,594. Clint Laye and Lane McGehee tied for second with 87 points, each taking home $2,055. Brayze Schill and R.C. Landingham tied for fourth with 86.5 points, each earning $908. Taylor Broussard finished with 84.5 points and won $478.
Steer Wrestling
Denton Good led the first semifinal with a swift 5.9-second run, earning $4,060. Jacob Wang followed closely with a time of 6.2 seconds, winning $3,360. Caden Camp and Colton Swearingen tied for third with 6.5 seconds, each receiving $2,310. Walt Arnold and Jeremy Burkhalter tied for fifth with 6.9 seconds, earning $980 each.
Team Roping
Tyler Wade and Wesley Thorp secured first place in the team roping semifinal with a time of 8.3 seconds, earning $5,200 each. JR. Ben and Brandon Ben followed in second with a time of 8.6 seconds, earning $4,300 each. Dawson Graham and Dillon Graham took third with a time of 9.1 seconds, winning $3,400 each. Ed Shearer and Taylor Brower finished fourth in 9.2 seconds, earning $2,500 each. Hayes Smith and Justin Davis took fifth place with a time of 9.3 seconds, winning $1,600 each. Clayton Van Aken and Cullen Teller finished sixth with 9.6 seconds, earning $900 each.
Saddle Bronc Riding
Kolby Wanchuk led the saddle bronc riding semifinal with an outstanding 90 points on Brookman Rodeo’s Apollo, earning $3,035. Lefty Holman followed with 88 points, earning $2,299. Zeke Thurston took third with 86.5 points, winning $1,655. Chase Brooks finished fourth with 85 points, earning $1,104. Sage Newman followed with 84 points, earning $644. Wyatt Casper finished with 83 points, earning $460.
Tie-Down Roping
Shad Mayfield secured first place in the tie-down roping semifinal with a time of 10.1 seconds, winning $5,200. Cash Fuesz followed with a time of 10.5 seconds, earning $4,300. Cash Fretwell finished third with 10.6 seconds, winning $3,400. Tyler Milligan took fourth with a time of 10.7 seconds, earning $2,500. Dylan Hancock finished with 11.8 seconds, earning $1,600. Chet Weitz completed his run in 13.7 seconds, earning $900.

Barrel Racing
Tayla Moeykens led the barrel racing semifinal with a quick time of 17.00 seconds, earning $5,375. Tiffany Lujan followed with a time of 17.08 seconds, winning $4,449. LaTricia Duke finished third with 17.21 seconds, earning $3,522. Sabrina Ketcham followed closely with 17.33 seconds, winning $2,595. Andrea Busby completed her run in 17.44 seconds, earning $1,668. Sherry Cervi finished with a time of 17.57 seconds, earning $927.
The results of these semifinals set the stage for the second round tomorrow, determining the final contenders for Championship Sunday. The rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the crowd, showcasing the true passion of rodeo fans.
