O’Connell, a three-time PRCA World Champion Bareback Rider, is on the path to recovery after enduring a left groin tear at the 2023 National Western Stock Show and Rodeo. His journey included a successful surgery in January, revealing bone fragments that added complexity to the healing process. On the other front, saddle bronc rider Chase Brooks, a six-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier, is sidelined for eight to twelve weeks due to a left hamstring strain suffered during Round 9 of the 2023 NFR.
