PBR Intends to Add Two Teams to Bull Riding League in the 2024 Season

Following resounding success of inaugural PBR Teams season and high volume of incoming inquires for ownership opportunities, new league begins process to expand from 8 to 10 Teams

PUEBLO, Colo. (July 19, 2023) – PBR (Professional Bull Riders) has unveiled its plans to expand its successful bull riding league, PBR Teams, by adding two new teams for the 2024 season. After a triumphant inaugural season with 8 founding teams in 2022, PBR is now inviting prospective partners to bid for ownership opportunities at a starting price of $20 million per team sanction. With over 30 interested parties in discussions, the league aims to select markets that hold the most potential for growing the fan base and fostering the sport’s excitement.

A Winning Formula: PBR Teams’ Expansion

“PBR Teams is the most exciting competition format in Western sports, broadening our appeal to casual fans,” shared PBR CEO and Commissioner Sean Gleason. The success of the inaugural season, with nearly 200,000 attendees at the league’s bull riding games, has fueled the expansion plans. PBR Teams offers an elite league experience, featuring top bull riders competing in five-on-five bull riding games throughout an 11-event season. With its thrilling team-based approach, fans have more reasons to root for their favorite riders, and the survive-and-advance playoff adds even more drama to the sport.

Unprecedented Media Coverage and Partnerships

The PBR Camping World Team Series, set to deliver riveting action, will have over 40 hours of coverage on CBS Sports. This extensive broadcasting will span across the CBS Television Network, Paramount+, and CBS Sports Network, starting from the season opener in Cheyenne, Wyoming on July 24 to Championship weekend, October 20-22 in Las Vegas. Additionally, a strategic partnership with Univision has expanded the reach of PBR Teams, with broadcasts airing on Univision’s linear channels and digital streaming platform Vix. The acclaimed Prime Video docuseries “The Ride” further amplifies marketing efforts, capturing the hearts of fans worldwide.
