Rodeo Clash: Shad ‘Money’ Mayfield Outshines Riley in Reno Showdown

Posted by

Friends, competitors and leaders in the world standings, Riley Webb and Shad Mayfield are without a doubt two of the hottest names in tie-down roping and the sport of rodeo. The two cowboys, both younger than 25, have supported each other the past two seasons since Webb was old enough to join Mayfield in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), even traveling together some.

Shad “The Money” Mayfield secures victory in the tie-down event at a Reno Showdown, besting the #1 ranked, Riley Webb.

A true ‘iron sharpens iron’ situation, they’ve been able to feed off each other’s energy and successes to become dominating forces on the rodeo trail. As numbers one and two in the 2023 world standings, the duo also took home the champion and reserve champion average titles at the Reno Rodeo with times of 25.8 and 26.0 seconds on three head.

Webb

Webb, the 19-year-old roper from Denton, Texas who finished the 2022 season 10th in the world, has earned over $200,000 with wins at the Molalla Buckeroo Rodeo, the Redding Rodeo, the High Desert Stampede, the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo, the 69th Annual Mid Winter Fair & Rodeo, the Cooks Rodeo Days and Rodeo Houston.

Mayfield

A previous world champion and four-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) qualifier, 22-year-old Mayfield’s 2023 season has produced wins at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show & Rodeo, the Killdeer Mountain Roundup, the Reno Rodeo, the Buffalo Bill Rodeo, the Liberty Hill Fair & Rodeo, the Cheney Rodeo and the Santa Rosa Roundup contributing to his season earnings of over $127,000 as the summer run begins to come to a close.
